Jean Bamanisa Saïdi, president of ExpoBeton, recently met with His Excellency Zhao Bin, the Chinese ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as part of preparations for the upcoming ExpoBeton conferences. The meeting aimed to strengthen Sino-Congolese cooperation, particularly by encouraging the active participation of Chinese companies in the event.
China plays a key role in the Congolese mining sector, with significant investments and a strong presence of its companies. Among them, China Molybdenum, through the Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM) project, is a major player in copper and cobalt extraction. Additionally, companies such as Sicomines, a joint venture between Sinohydro Corp., China Railway Construction Corp., and the Congolese government, illustrate China’s commitment to infrastructure development in the DRC.
Chinese companies are not limited to mining activities; they also contribute significantly to infrastructure development, particularly by building transport corridors toward the east, facilitating trade through routes leading to Tanzania and Kenya, with special attention to the port of Dar es Salaam.
