The BTP & CMA Club Partners with DGC Africa Skills and UXI Artisan Development to Transform Vocational Training

Johannesburg, August 8, 2025 .In a groundbreaking initiative, the BTP & CMA Club has signed an exclusive agreement with DGC Africa Skills and UXI Artisan Development, two leading South African organizations. The goal: to raise the standards of vocational training in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with tangible impacts on local employment, skills certification, and sustainable growth in the construction sector and beyond.

An Agreement to Shape the Future

In response to widespread underqualification across many sectors, this agreement aims to create a rigorous and certified training ecosystem in line with international standards, with direct benefits for Congolese workers.

The 4 pillars of the program:
1. Prioritize Local Employment Require subcontractors to hire Congolese workers who are properly trained.
2. Develop Core Skills Launch specialized schools in civil engineering, architecture, and technical trades.
3. Certify Local Talent Implement certification and “train-the-trainer” programs aligned with ISO and ACQF (African Continental Qualifications Framework) standards.
4. Create Real Opportunities – Build a national digital database of certified artisans, directly accessible to companies and employers.

African Expertise for Local Impact

UXI Artisan Development specializes in preparing young people for employment, offering programs in artisanal trades, agriculture, business, and healthcare. In collaboration with DGC Africa Skills, the two partners will bring their expertise to the DRC to:
• Design accredited programs adapted to local realities,
• Create training centers in partnership with companies such as Kamoa Copper,
• Work closely with the National Institute of Professional Preparation (INPP) to maximize nationwide reach.

Coordinated with Public Authorities

This partnership is part of a national development vision, in close alignment with several ministries:
• The Ministry of Vocational Training will identify skill needs, regulate vocational training activities, and ensure the quality of training programs.
• The Ministry of Labor will ensure compliance with labor standards and protect workers’ rights.
• The Ministry of Education will integrate these efforts into a broader policy to raise educational standards and promote professional inclusion.

A Paradigm Shift in Construction and Beyond

With this agreement, the DRC is laying the groundwork for a revolution in vocational training, focused on inclusion, excellence, and immediate employability. Through this partnership, the BTP & CMA Club clearly demonstrates its commitment to shaping the country’s economic future by investing in and leveraging local talent.
